Kitaj (1932-2007), one of the foremost names in the art of the 2nd half of the 20th century, was an American artist who spent much of his life in England, exercising strong influence on the British Pop art. He was considered one of the world’s leading draftsmen and was elected to the Royal Academy in 1991, the first American to join the Academy since John Singer Sargent.
